MONCTON (N.B.) – Kathy MacDougall of Nauwigewauk, N.B. is the second big winner of Atlantic Lottery’s new MEGA 360 game, getting her chance to spin the big wheel and walking away with a $400,000 prize.
Prizes on the big wheel range from a minimum of $100,000 up to $500,000 and MacDougall’s excitement level was running high as she watched it spin, eagerly awaiting for her prize amount to be revealed.
“When I found out I would win at least $100,000, I thought, ‘Anything more than that is just a bonus,’” MacDougall said. “Now, we’ve won four times that amount and it’s just so incredible.”
MacDougall visited Atlantic Lottery’s head office on Friday, Dec. 1 for her spin of the big wheel after playing the online version of MEGA 360.
“I had bought my tickets for the week online and had a few dollars left over in my account, so I decided to try MEGA 360,” MacDougall said. “I played for a few minutes and got the wheel four times, and I thought one last time and that would be it. I spun it one more time and it was the MEGA 360 win.”
MEGA 360 is the first Scratch, Watch and Spin game offered by Atlantic Lottery. The game can be played as either a Scratch’N Win ticket at retail or as an Instant Win game at alc.ca. Players first scratch their ticket or click through their digital game, and those who unlock the “spin” feature in their game get to watch an animated wheel spin to reveal their prize – this happens during in-store validation for Scratch’N Win tickets or online for Instant Win games. If a spin lands on “MEGA 360”, the player wins the opportunity to spin the MEGA 360 wheel at Atlantic Lottery’s head office in Moncton, N.B.
MacDougall is the second Atlantic Canadian to spin the MEGA 360 wheel at Atlantic Lottery’s head office following Kim Gale of Corner Brook, N.L., who took home $200,000 after spinning the big wheel the same week the game launched in October.
After speaking with a Customer Care representative at Atlantic Lottery who confirmed her win, MacDougall anxiously waited to share the news with her husband.
“When I found out I had won, I thought ‘I can’t call my husband at work, he’s a forklift operator, he’ll run into something, I’ll wait until he gets home,’” MacDougall said. “He thought I was kidding. I said, ‘No, I’m not kidding, and you have to take Friday off work so we can go spin the wheel.’”
MacDougall says that she and her husband plan to use the prize money to help their four children, have an extra special Christmas together with their family and to make lots of travel plans. MacDougall is also hopeful the prize money will allow her husband to retire sooner than planned.
