MONCTON (N.B.) – Ronald LeBlanc of Moncton, N.B. was on his way home from work when he decided to stop and purchase some lottery tickets for Christmas stockings and gifts. He grabbed a few for himself as well, ultimately leading to his $100,000 MEGA 360 win.
“When I went into the store, I asked the lady why my winning number on the ticket said ‘Spin’ underneath and she explained I won a spin there,” LeBlanc said. “She pressed the button, it spun and when it landed on MEGA 360, she was jumping up and down and screaming, ‘You’ve won, you’ve won, you’ve won!’”
MEGA 360 is the first Scratch, Watch and Spin game offered by Atlantic Lottery. The game can be played as either a Scratch’N Win ticket at retail or as an Instant Win game at alc.ca. Players first scratch their ticket or click through their digital game, and those who unlock the “spin” feature in their game get to watch an animated wheel spin to reveal their prize – this happens during in-store validation for Scratch’N Win tickets or online for Instant Win games. If a spin lands on “MEGA 360”, the player wins the opportunity to spin the MEGA 360 wheel at Atlantic Lottery’s head office in Moncton, N.B.
Prizes on the wheel range from $100,000 to $500,000, guaranteeing anyone who spins the big wheel walks away with at least a $100,000 prize. LeBlanc visited Atlantic Lottery’s head office on Monday, Dec. 18 to spin the big wheel.
“I said to my friend, we would always pass by the Atlantic Lottery building and say, ‘I’d like to go into that building and win big,’” LeBlanc said. “We’ve been saying that for years and years and this morning she said, ‘It’s your turn,’ and it’s just surreal.”
LeBlanc is the third Atlantic Canadian to spin the MEGA 360 wheel at Atlantic Lottery’s head office since the game launched in October. Kim Gale of Corner Brook, N.L., took home $200,000 after spinning the big wheel the same week the game launched and Kathy MacDougall of Nauwigewauk, N.B. took home $400,000 following her big spin.
LeBlanc works as an operating room nurse and has been planning to retire in two years, when he turns 60. Thanks to his spin of the big wheel, he now intends to retire a full year sooner.
“In the short term, I will have everything taken care of, I’ll fill out my retirement papers and give them the date I want to leave,” LeBlanc said. “At Christmas, we’re just going to spoil ourselves and have a very good Christmas this year.”
LeBlanc purchased his winning MEGA 360 Scratch’N Win ticket at the Elmwood Drive Needs Convenience in Moncton, N.B. The retailer will receive a one per cent seller’s prize.
